  9. a clear picture  of who really deserve
  10. to be  ranked  high  on   the  charts.
  11. »CL8:Lately, I  have  been  thinking  a lot
  12. about this  and   concluded   that  we
  13. needed an alternative to the charts we
  14. know today.»CL1: We have been using the old
  15. and reliable  way of voting, which has
  16. and  still  works  fine in my opinion,
  17. but it  is  very  easy  to  see who is
  18. supporting the  disk magazines. I know
  19. that the  chart  I  have  put together
  20. here does not  take the quality of the
  21.

  28. articles  into  consideration. I  have
  29. discounted  all news,  advertisements,
  30. and  party-invitations  will  also  be
  31. left out  in  this chart. »CL7:I  will only
  32. collect   information   about   "real"
  33. articles, so  that  people spamming us
  34. with news and  advertisements will not
  35. affect the chart.»CL1:

  37. So what  will  this  chart  contain? I
  38. have picked  out  two  things that are
  39. important to this chart:
  40.  
  41. »CL8:1. The number of lines in the articles
  42. »CL7:2. How many bytes they are
  43.  
  44. »CL1:Every  issue  will  contain  a list of
  45. each  article  and  the authors. There
  46. will be two kinds of charts. The first
  47. will  show  you  who  have contributed
  48. most  for   the   current   issue   of
  49. Eurochart  and  the second will simply
  50. (as you might have guessed) be  an all
  51. time chart. I think that you can get a
  52. good picture of  who is active and who
  53. is not this way.

  55. I have been thinking a while about the
  56. not  so  good  things  about  having a
  57. chart  such  as this, but»CL8: I  concluded
  58. that there was only one negative thing
  59. about  it;  There   are    other  disk
  60. magazines out  there  and  some people
  61. has chosen  to  support   others  than
  62. Eurochart»CL1: (not  that   we   will  ever
  63. understand why :).
  64. However, I  still  think  that a chart
  65. like  this  can  be  quite useful  and
  66. maybe be  a  way to motivate people to
  67. write more.»CL7: As  we  all know,  it  has
  68. always been  a  struggle  to  get high
  69. rankings   in   everything   that  has
  70. something  to do with charts,»CL1: whatever
  71. we are  talking about best coder, best
  72. writer, best   soccer   team   or  top
  73. uploader. I guess  it is in our nature
  74. and we just cannot help it. Sure, some
  75. do not intend  to be on a chart, maybe
  76. because they  are  not  competitive or
  77. maybe because they simply are not good
  78. enough.
